SAY NO TO THE INDIGENOUS VOICE TO PARLIAMENT

Labor’s plan to hold a referendum on Indigenous Voice to Parliament is set to undermine Australia’s democratic process. A Voice to Parliament for Indigenous people will only lead to a racial divide in our nation and drive us apart rather than bring us together. Also, these changes will remain in our Constitution for all time and cause irreparable harm, dividing us against ourselves. We need to call attention to the fact that a referendum campaign is just around the corner, and those responsible for driving a divided Australia have already begun.
“We are up against a 50,000 tonne dragon. I think the general public will say ‘if they (Aboriginal people) are split, why should we vote for it.’ I predict the debate will get angrier as we get closer to this referendum because the voices of everyday working Aboriginal Australians have been totally snuffed out.” –

Five reasons why Australia needs to say ‘no’ to the Voice
- It will exacerbate racial division and undo decades of work on reconciliation.
- It’s undemocratic and vague, and politicians will be making decisions for Indigenous Australia without consultation.
- One bureaucratically appointed voice can not possibly represent an entire group of people.
- Representatives of The Voice may hold veto powers over government decision-making.
- It will become a political weapon used for point scoring and dividing opinion rather than bringing people together.
